BLAME THE PATIENTS - THEY'RE TOO DEMANDING...

We look back at the Health Select Committee Inquiry...

Our Steve gives his impression of just one aspect of a fascinating afternoon session with four NHS Defenders giving evidence as to why ACO/ACS/ICS/ICP are NOT A GOOD IDEA.

But it seems the Health Select Committee weren't that interested...

For full video of the session and to hear the excellent evidence given by Dr. Graham Winyard. Dr Colin Hutchinson, Dr Tony O'Sullivan and Professor Allyson Pollock click the button.

Health Selective Hearing pants on fire NTHAMPTON

The death of a patient at Northampton General Hospital A&E has been blamed on overcrowding and increased demand. Yet when you look at the statistics for the last 12months - the actual figure for A&E have REDUCED!

So why is the CEO of the hospital claiming that A&E has seen a 30% rise in attendances? Does she need help in understanding her own stats?

So we are awarding Dr Sonia Swart and her team our Pants on Fire Award.

The increase has been seen in the attendances at the new Type 3 ward that was built recently. Not at A&E!   Click on the stats image and see for yourself.

Prof. Stephen Hawking

We were saddened to hear the news that Prof. Stephen Hawking had passed away. Despite being told he would not live beyond his 30's he led a life of true fighting spirit and in his speech at the Royal College of Medicine in August 2017 he said he owed his life entirely to the NHS. In the last couple of years he chose to use his public status to directly challenge the policy and negligence of the government and in particular the disgraceful actions and statements of Jeremy Hunt, Health Secretary.

With sadness we say farewell to a true defender of the NHS.

Our condolences to all his family & friends.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JUDICIAL REVIEW TEAMS

Campaigners in two very different parts of the country are celebrating more of those small step BUT very important victories.

Hands off Huddersfield HRI in Yorkshire were at Leeds Court on the 15th March to see if their appeal for a Judicial Review would be granted and the judge agreed their case should be heard.

In Dorset, campaigners in Poole fought hard to push for a Judicial Review into the closure of maternity services.

IMPORTANT NEWS FROM DEVON

This week has been an important one for campaigners in Devon.

Due to a huge effort from local campaigners urging the lcoal community to send emails and letters to the Adults Health Scrutiny Committee - the committee voted unanimously to put on hold the plans to set up an Integrated Care System.

Save Our Hospital Services Devon have done a fantastic job and we can all learn from their experience. Find out more on the page we began a few months ago...

ROUTE MAP TO ACOs IS THE ROAD TO NOWHERE GOOD

We are seriously asking the question of local councils, STP Boards, Hospital Trusts and CCG Members...

DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW WHERE THEY ARE?

They're all stepping back and forth between Accountable and Integrated as quickly they can, dancing to the crazy rhythms of the NHSE Band. We want an answer to the question -  SHALL WE BIN THE ACO Route Map?
